CVK (Crater Valley Kibale Forest Resort Beach Lodge), is 21 km from Fort Portal town and 10 km from the Kanyanchu visitors centre in the Kibale Forest National Park. The lodge sits on the tranquil crater Lake Nyabikere (meaning lake of frogs), facing the Mountains of the Moon (Rwenzori) who's snows are visible on a clear day. Our self-contained rooms have hot and cold running water as well as sitting flush toilets and standing showers. CVK is a family-run. Dr. David and his wife Pelussi have established a friendly ambience offering the best food you will find around.

Location
Western Uganda at the edge of Kibale Forest National Park. Disembark at RWETEERA Trading Centre (see CVK yellow signpost & MTN signpost).
CVK is in a real village, on the shores of L. Nyabikere (lake of frogs), 13 miles (21km) or 30 minutes drive south of Fort Portal Town on the Kamwenge Road.
CVK is mostly famous for its clean, picturesque lake/hills and the presence of 12 species of primates in the nearby Kibale tropical rain forest, eg. chimps, monkeys and baboons. There are also, elephants and very many interesting birds including the very rare Green Breasted Pitta. 

Accommodation/Campsite
Self Contained CottagesCVK offers fine accommodation in attractively grass-thatched, ecological (eco) bandas (40 beds). Our newly constructed Self contained rooms are now open. The terraced campsite (20 tents), covered by a soft carpet of evergreen grass, overlooks the blue and tranquil lake. The bandas (cottages) are set out singly and well spaced out among broad-leaved evergreen trees. These bandas provide the wanted coolness and real privacy for rest. Mosquito Nets provided.

CVK Lakeside Hall suitable for workshops, seminars and conferences
Facilities exist at Crater Valley Kibale's (CVK's) Lakeside Hall. While at the Hall, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the lake and beautiful sunset.The Hall is surrounded by several hills and receives six rivers.
Hall: Can take 200+ people
Accommodation: 40 people
Services: Breakfast, 10 O'clock tea, lunch, 4 O'clock tea, and dinner. Chilled beverages are available.
Charges: US$100.00 per day or per night.

CVK Guest House at roads End, Isunga. This beautiful Guesthouse (with four beds) is conveniently situated at the Nyabikere lakeside. Adjacent to Kibale National Park Headquarters. Facing the blue waters of the lake & the CVK Conference Hall. The guest house is self-contained & provides for self-catering visitors. The guest house consists of two bedrooms, each with twin beds a sitting room/dining room, a kitchen with cooking utensils & a garage.

View the serene blue waters of the lake and the hill known locally as ‘Top of the World’, Valleys, Tea Estates, Kibale natural tropical forest, & CVK Gardens.

Your security is completely assured at the guest house. A house keeper sleeps nearby. The Kibale National Park Headquarters’ Game Rangers available day and night. Equally your privacy is ensured! No cars and people going past the house. Only a chorus of birds.

Take a relaxing walk around the lake and our beautiful unique eco-gardens.
View a variety of birds (>100 species seen in one day), butterflies, moths, coloured frogs, toads, lizards, a humble hippopotamus, & monkeys (e.g.. Vervet, Red-tailed & b/w Colobus).
Enjoy canoeing, swimming and fishing in a fresh bilharzia-free lake.
Take a guided NATURE walk to the Top of the World. on 'The Rurama Trail' and visit the newly discovered 'Mother of 7 caves'.
Visit numerous nearby crater lakes, homesteads, tea estates, a bi-weekly open-air market at Rwaihamba, Kibale tropical rain forest, and enjoy community traditional dancing, singing and reciting of poems.
View snow on the Equator (can be seen on clear days) on the fabled and beautiful ‘Mountains of the Moon’ better known as the Rwenzori.

Crater Valley KibaleFood and Beverages
CVK offers delicious, both local and international meals, prepared by a local family. Menu items range from only Ushs5,000- to Ushs15,000-. We also offer locally-grown & fertiliser-free coffee, African tea and cooled drinks (beers, sodas, mineral water), Uganda 'waragi' (local gin), and honey wine.

CVK provides the best locally prepared a la carte meals. Try them and you'll not regret it!
