Welcome to Mirembe Resort Beach (MRB) located at Lutoboka Bay, on the largest of the 84 islands of Ssesse known as Bugala Island. Mirembe in vernacular means “peace” and for sure peace is what abides at this resort. MRB is famous for the white sands and the cool refreshing breeze from the huge mass of Lake Victoria. It is a quiet, relaxing and entertaining place that leaves one refreshed all day long and awakened by the waves and bird songs in the mornings.
Getting there and away
MRB is accessed by a Ferry and a new modern ship which carries up to 108 passengers plus six saloon cars. The ship sails from Entebbe (Nakiwogo Pier) to Kalangala (Lutoboka Bay). It leaves Entebbe daily at 2pm and arrives at Kalangala at 5pm.Enjoy watching the numerous islands as you comfortably sail to Kalangala. The same ship departs Lutoboka Bay everyday at 8am and arrives at Entebbe at 11am. If you choose to travel by road from Kampala, the journey will take you four hours through Nyendo (Masaka) trading centre to Bukakata where you catch the ferry to Bugoma. The ferry crossing takes 45 minutes. The ferry travels from Bukakata (Masaka) to Bugoma (Kalangala) on the following scheduled crossing times.

It is advisable to arrive at the landing site at least 30 minutes before the departure time. Plan to leave Mirembe Resort one and half hours before the target departure time above.
Activities while at Mirembe:
1. Forest walks around Lutoboka Bay: MRB is located in a tropical high forest. Discover the beauty of the island by walking around the natural forests around us. You will be able to see many monkeys, birds, trees with unique roots and butterflies. The insect diversity is amazing. There are no dangerous animals on this island; occasionally you might meet a snake.
2. Beach walk: Enjoy the white sand beaches along Lutoboka bay, which are very secure for you to freely lie back and enjoy the warm sun.
3. Boat rides: Boat rides can be arranged at a fee for individuals or as groups. Discover the beauty of the neighboring islands, the scenic view and diversity of bird species.
4. Beach Volleyball: Enjoy exciting games on a clean sand bed.
Facilities at Mirembe
Electricity: Kalangala Town is not connected to the national grid system as such we depend on a generator supported by a solar power system. The generator is always switched on from 06:30pm until 11:00pm. After the generator is switched off you can then switch on the solar lights (Room no. 1,2,3,4 &5 in the main block) or solar lanterns in other rooms. A flashlight is always provided to each customer as you check in just in case you may need it during the night.
Water: The water used is natural spring water which we get by gravity flow from uphill. Hot water is available for bathing. Open the hot tap and give it a few minutes before the hot water begins to flow.
Lake Flies: Lake Flies are part of the island environment; they are however harmless although they can be a nuisance especially in the dry season when they swarm. Please switch off the lights in your room when not needed and keep the mosquito screens closed.
